She brought me water. Checked on me. Said, “Mommy, I’m taking care of you because you took care of me.”
That’s empathy. Real empathy. It reminded me that all the little things we do — the reading, the social stories, the daily practice — it adds up.
Week 4 Will Be There When We’re Ready
She’s back at school this week. I’m not rushing her into Week 4. We’ll ease back in slowly.
The funny thing is, even with the break, her vocabulary keeps growing. She’s using big words in everyday conversation. The work from Weeks 1-3 stuck.
That’s what real learning looks like. It doesn’t disappear when life gets hard.
To the Parents Going Through It
If you’re managing your own health while raising a child with learning differences — I see you. It’s okay to pause. It’s okay to take care of yourself so you can take care of them.
The wins don’t disappear. The vocabulary is still there. The social stories showed up when it mattered most. The empathy surprised me exactly when I needed it.
This pause wasn’t a setback. It was proof that everything we’ve been doing is working.
See you in Week 4. We’ll get there — together.
